Google DeepMind said its latest Gemini models can now analyze videos with better accuracy while using up to 88% fewer tokens. Rather than scanning an entire file, Gemini reasons across a video's transcript, audio, and frames, dynamically adjusting frame rate to pull the exact moments it needs. The efficiency gains are largest for long-form content, from 10-minute guides to multi-hour videos.

LatchBio, a biosecurity research firm, evaluated Grok 4.6's performance on biosecurity monitoring and adversarial biological tasks for xAI. The firm found the model correctly detects and refuses dangerous queries, including deliberately obfuscated requests, while still allowing beneficial scientific questions through.

Wilmington City Council will consider a resolution asking the NC Department of Transportation to look at other options for replacing the Cape Fear Memorial Bridge and to exempt the project from toll funding.
